The construction of Ambos Mundos Hotel began in the 1923. Its ground floor was dedicated to lobby and the first and second floor to residence with 19 rooms each and bathroom services. In May of 1924, it grew with the construction of the third and fourth floors, 18 rooms with bathroom and a section that was a private house. In 1931 another floor was added, where the kitchen and the restaurant are built. The eclectic Ambos Mundos Hotel was built in the late 1920´s and it is an intimate and cozy place that stands out because of its history. In the early 1930´s, the American writer, Ernest Hemingway, stayed in this hotel and, in the room 511, he wrote the first chapter of For whom the bell tolls since he found the hotel ´a good place to write´. Nowadayas, the room the writer had, keeps some of his belongings and the Plaza de Armas restaurant serves his favorite dishes. Besides, the hotel has a wonderful rooftop bar-restaurant that has exquisite grilled food and the best of the views. The privileged location of the hotel, downtown, makes it an excellent place to admire the values of the old part of the city.
