Comment: We got a big discount on the room because the spa facilities were closed. It's a lovely location and although the full tariff would be quite expensive, I would consider it for a treat.

Comment: Visited this hotel before and like it very much. There was champagne with breakfast before, for Buck`s Fizz, but not this time. No tea/coffee making facilities in the room. No robes in room, though I got two eventually, after being sent to spa then back to reception again. No tissues. Economy cut-backs? However, I am not complaining - I had a wonderful, relaxing holiday, and will visit Monchique spa again.

Comment: We loved the situation and grounds, and the room was fine for a short stay. We were disappointed to find the wine/beer bar closed in the evening and there was nowhere to get a drink after 10 o'clock. We thought the staff on reception could have been slightly more friendly/interested, and understood from reception staff that the swimming pool closed at 6 and was only available as part of the spa at a cost. We were not told that there was another swimming pool that we could access at any time. We were surprised to find only minimal information about the hotel, its situation and history and would have liked information about the walks in the immediate area. In the UK it is usual to have information available in rooms or at reception. It was good value for money at the reduced rate we obtained.
