Hotel Esplanade first opened in 1910, designed by architects Hagström & Ekman in the style of the times, Art Nouveau. It was considered very modern in those times with running water in all rooms, and bathrooms in some guestrooms. Original furniture was carpeted at NK furniture factory in Nyköping. It was operated as a boarding house with long term residents who were perhaps waiting for a flat or either moving in or out of Sweden.
