Frequently Asked Questions

What does GDS mean?

Global Distribution System are worldwide computerized reservation network used as a single point-of-access for reserving airline seats, hotel rooms, rental cars, and other travel-related items by travel agents, and large corporations. The main global distribution systems are Amadeus, Sabre, Galileo, and Worldspan. They are owned and operated as joint ventures by major airlines, car rental companies and hotel groups.

I have no corporate clients at my hotel, it is not interesting for my hotel

GDS is still 50% leisure and 50% Business. From International clients that do not book on Internet, 2 out of 10 travelers still prefer travel agents. Varying your distribution multiplies your booking opportunities

It is an expensive distribution channel with many actors to pay for a single booking

Not more than certain OTAs or tour operators. It helps to target business travelers and get new bookings. You can fully control your rate strategy and content from your Back office.

Do you have your own chain code?

We are administrator of your chain code ‘FG’ plus we maintain our own GDS gateway.

This channel is old and does not produce a lot versus Internet

GDS represents 58 millions hotel bookings a year and increases by 5% each year. One third of the worldwide travel traffic goes via GDS and it represents 20% of hotel distribution revenue. It allows you to vary your distribution and also target new types of clients such as corporations.

It is complex to manage and I cannot control my distribution

We provide a back office which allows you to control both Booking engine and GDS channels at the same time, with the same functional features. This channel displays the same content as OTAs (description, images, rates and availabilities). The search format are just different in each system. For any questions or doubt about display, our expert team in each of office can help you and show you the end user screens’ result.
